Kia is one of the last few mainstream automakers without a compact crossover in its US lineup, but that’s about to change. Kia has confirmed that it will add a new compact crossover to its lineup in the second half of 2019.

Kia SP Concept

Kia CEO Han-Woo Park confirmed to Automotive News that the compact crossover is coming. It will also be based on the SP concept that debuted at India’s Auto Expo earlier this year. The yet to be named compact crossover isn’t the only crossover that Kia will add to its lineup next year. The Kia Telluride is a new three row crossover that will arrive next spring.

The 2020 Telluride debuted last month at New York Fashion Week. After both new crossovers arrive, there’s also a chance that Kia may decide to release a a small pickup truck as the brand looks to jump in the ring with the latest small trucks, like the new Ford Ranger.
