Today Jeep unveiled all the details about the 2018 Jeep Wrangler, but it also revealed some details about the future. First the 2019 Jeep Wrangler will be offered with a new 3.0L diesel engine and then in 2020 the Jeep will introduce a Jeep Wrangler plug-in hybrid.

Jeep hasn’t released any details about the Wrangler Plug-in hybrid, but it’s safe to assume that it will borrow part of the powertrain from the Chrysler Pacifica plug-in hybrid. The Pacifica plug-in hybrid is powered by a 3.6L V6 and an electric motor. The Pacifica has an electric driving range of 33 miles.

We’ll have to wait and see how Jeep Wrangler fans respond to a Wrangler Plug-in hybrid, but even if they don’t want it, there are still three other powertrains to choose from. For now buyers can choose from a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder or a 3.6L V6.
