Well we have more bad news for the “save the manual” crowd, since the Jeep Compass is the latest vehicle to lose its manual transmission. CarsDirect has received an order guide for the 2021 Jeep Compass, which shows that the six-speed manual is no longer available on any trim level.

Currently the Compass Sport and the 4×4 version of the Latitude trim level are available with the manual, but that will change after the 2020 model year. The 2021 Compass will only be available with a 6- or 9-speed automatic transmission.

Why did Jeep kill the manual? Well it’s obvious, sales were low. Jeep spokesperson Amy Grundman stated, “there wasn’t much of a demand for a manual transmission.”

When the 2021 Jeep Compass arrives, it will start at $25,390, including the destination fees. That’s a hefty increase over the 2020 Compass, which started at $23,775, but if you look closer and compare a similarly equipped 2020 Compass, it’s only a $115 increase. The automatic was a $1,500 option.
