We’ve been waiting patiently, well sort of, to hear when the diesel-powered Jeep Wrangler will arrive. Well now we have some good news, since the 2020 Wrangler will finally get a 3.0L diesel engine, but it will only be available in the four-door Wrangler Unlimited model.

2018 Jeep Wrangler Moab Edition

The 3.0L turbodiesel V6 will generate 260 horsepower and 442 lb-ft. of torque. If you’re keeping track, the same engine is offered in the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel, but the torque rating is slightly lower, by 38 lb-ft. The diesel engine will be mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Right now we don’t know the EPA rating for the diesel-powered Wrangler, but it should be better than the gasoline powered models, which have up to a 21 mpg combined rating. Jeep has also not announced the pricing.
