The Jeep Wagoneer essentially created the premium SUV segment and was produced way before the SUV became the trend in the 1990’s, which was produced from the early 1960’s until 1991.

Jeep is now planning on reviving the Grand Wagoneer nameplate for a new seven-seat SUV that will sit at the top of the Jeep lineup. Fiat-Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne announced at the Detroit Auto Show that a new Jeep Grand Wagoneer will arrive in January of 2013.

The Grand Wagoneer will share its platform with the Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango.
