Jeep Grand Cherokee Confirmed to Get a Diesel by 2013 in the US

Yup its been confirmed that the Jeep Grand Cherokee is going to get a diesel engine in the US and it will happen between now and 2013. The Grand Cherokee is slated to get the same 3.0L V6 turbo-diesel engine that was recently introduced in Europe.

The 3.0L V6 puts out 237 horsepower and 406 lb-ft. of torque. It’s not yet known if a six speed manual version will be offered in addition to the five-speed automatic gearbox. An eight-speed automatic is also in the works.

The 3.0L is built by VM Motori in Italy. Towing capacity is expected to be just over 7,700 pounds.
