Infiniti has unveiled the Q Inspiration concept today at the Detroit Auto Show. The Infiniti Q Inspiration concept previews the design language of the next-generation Infiniti models, plus it also hints at what will power them.

The Q Inspiration concept features a sleek coupe-like profile that looks sleeker and more sculpted than any of Infiniti’s current sedans. According to Infiniti, the concept’s exterior “features clear and concise lines with dynamic and confident proportions.”

The minimalistic design theme on the outside continues inside with a clean simple design that’s also spacious. Since the concept is powered by Infiniti’s “intelligently packed” new variable compression four-cylinder engine, the designers were given more free from the typical constraints that come with larger engines. This allowed the designers to design an even more spacious interior.

Powered by the VC-Turbo four-cylinder engine, the concept is as efficient as a hybrid or diesel, since the VC-Turbo continually transforms, adjusting its compression ratio to optimize power and fuel efficiency. The powertrain is already debuting with the 2019 QX50, but will obviously be offered in other Infiniti models.

Infiniti hasn’t mentioned it, but there’s a chance that the Q Inspiration concept could also preview a new flagship sedan for the brand.
