Hyundai’s first dedicated electrified vehicle, the Ioniq is just arriving in showrooms, but Hyundai has already given details on what we can expect next. Hyundai is currently working on a new dedicated electric vehicle platform that will be used for several models and will have a driving range of at least 186 miles per charge.

The new dedicated platform will be used for a range of subcompact and compact models and according to Lee Ki-sang, a senior vice president at Hyundai Motor, the new models will be “more competitive” than their rivals. The platform won’t be ready for at least a year.
In the meantime, Hyundai is still working on expanding its electrified lineup, which will soon include electric Hyundai and Kia SUVs.
