The Hyundai Sonata was completely redone for the 2020 model year, but Hyundai has announced a few changes to the 2021 Sonata.

The biggest change is the addition of new 19-inch alloy wheels with 245/40 R19 Pirelli P Zero tires on the turbocharged Sonata SEL Plus trim level and the Safe Exit Warning (SEW) system has been added to SEL, SEL Plus and Limited trims. SEW uses existing blind-spot radar sensors to automatically warn the driver and passengers if oncoming traffic is detected when parallel parked, with the goal to prevent back-seat passengers from stepping out into traffic.

Lastly the Sonata Limited gets a 6-way power passenger seat.

We’re still waiting for the arrival of the sporty Sonata N-Line, but for now the Sonata offers two engine options a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 191 horsepower or a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine with 180 hp. Both engines are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. If you want something more efficient, there’s also the Sonata Hybrid that gets up to 54 mpg on the highway.

The 2021 Hyundai Sonata goes on sale in August.
