Hyundai continues to release new products that dominate its respective segments. In recent years Hyundai has even entered new segments like the luxury market with the Genesis and Equus. One model that Hyundai still lacks is a true halo model, but that could soon change. There is a rumor that Hyundai is planning a new supercar that will take on models like the Chevy Corvette, Nissan GT-R and Porsche 911.

It’s being rumored that Hyundai is working on a new V8 powered supercar that would cost between $80,000 and $100,000. Front engine and mid-engine designs are supposedly being considered, but the only engine planned is Hyundai’s 5.0L Tau V8 that currently powers the Genesis R-Spec. It puts out 429 horsepower and 376 lb-ft of torque. The supercar is expected to only be rear-wheel-drive to keep cost and weight in check.

Of course this is all speculation, since Hyundai’s CEO John Krafcik has denied these rumors.
