Hyundai has announced that the Genesis will be getting a new twin-turbocharged V6 engine in 2017 or 2018. The move is part of Hyundai’s plan to offer more smaller turbocharged engines across its lineup.
Dave Zuchowski, CEO of Hyundai Motor America revealed that the new V6 will have power that’s on par with the current 420-hp 5.0L Tau V8. Hyundai plans to introduce a range of downsized and turbocharged engines to cut emissions and improve its fuel economy specs.

“We’re going to go forward more broadly with that in the portfolio,” Zuchowski said. “You’re going to see smaller displacement, more use of turbocharging. A lot of it is weight-related, all of it is CAFE-related.”
