Hyundai may soon introduce a new larger crossover that will be based on the rear-wheel-drive Genesis, according to a report from Australia’s Motoring. The report claims that David Zuchowski, Hyundai’s North American CEO wants the brand to introduce a new premium crossover that will compete with models like the Audi Q7 and BMW X5.
The new crossover would be positioned above the Santa Fe in Hyundai’s lineup and will likely come standard with seven seats. It’s not known when Hyundai will introduce the Genesis-based crossover, but sources claim that it does have a very good chance of getting the green light.

“Ultimately Zuchowski has to answer to the Koreans, but he has got the size of market where he could talk it up – and if he wants a luxury SUV with a Genesis badge on it, it’s likely he’ll get one,” stated Bill Thomas, Hyundai’s Public Relations General Manager.
