Currently the Honda CR-Z is only available with a hybrid powertrain, but according to Autocar, Honda is currently working on a turbocharged four-cylinder for the small coupe.

Honda is currently developing a 1.6L turbocharged four-cylinder that will also be offered in the FIt, Civic and Accord. It’s expected to offer the same performance of a typical 2.0L engine. According to sources the engine will come in two versions, a 160-hp and a 200-hp version. The 200-hp motor is expected to be offered in the CR-Z Type R. The 1.6L could be in production as early as next year.

Hopefully these reports are true…
