Honda Clarity fuel cell to cost around $60,000

Honda has revealed the pricing details for the Clarity fuel cell sedan that is expected to launch in California before the end of 2016. When it does go on sale the Clarity is expected to be priced around $60,000 with a targeted monthly lease under $500.

Deliveries in California will begin through specific dealers in Los Angeles and Orange counties as well as the San Francisco Bay Area and Sacramento. Compared to Clarity’s predecessor, the FCX Clarity, the Clarity’s fuel cell stack that is 33 percent more compact with a 60 percent increase in power density. The more compact fuel cell and integrated powertrain, comparable in size to a V-6 engine, now fits entirely under the hood of the car, allowing for a more spacious cabin with seating for five passengers.

In addition to releasing the pricing on the Clarity, Honda has also announced that a reengineering 2017 Accord Hybrid is going on sale this spring. Honda is going to release a new plug-in hybrid by 2018.
