Small cars are all the rage right now with gas prices getting closer and closer to $5 bucks a gallon. The Honda Fit has been exceeding sales expectations since it’s release in the US in early 2006.

Sales of the current Fit have gone up 64 percent to 29,784 units in the first five months of this year compared to the same period in 2007. This fall Honda is going to release an all-new 2009 Fit in the US and Honda is bumping up the number of Fits sent here from 60,000 to 80,000 units. When the Fit was first released in the US Honda had only projected to sell between 30,000 and 40,000 units. Even the 60,000 units that the US receives now are not enough. Global capacity for the Fit is set at more than 500,000 units.
