Honda Announces More Job and Production Cuts in Japan

Japan’s number 2 automaker has announced plans to cut its workforce in Japan and to further reduce production.

Honda is cutting all of its remaining temporary workforce, which is approximately 3,100 workers. The automaker had already cut 1,200 temporary jobs.

In addition Honda has announced plans to reduce production in demand by another 56,000 units. Honda now plans on producing 1.168 million vehicles in Japan for the fiscal year ending March, down from its initial plan of 1.31 million vehicles.

Nissan has also announced plans to reduce its temporary workforce to zero by March and Toyota is going to cut its numbers by half.
