Up until now the Sierra Denali’s interior hasn’t been as luxurious as the Ram 1500, but now GMC has fixed that. Starting with the SLE trim level, the Sierra gets a new 12.3-inch digital instrument panel and a 13.4-inch touchscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard, while a head-up display is available. The center console has also been redesigned with a new T-shaped shifter. Models with the front bench seat have a more old school column-mounted shifter.

For buyers that want the most luxurious truck than can get, theres the new Denali Ultimate model, which features Vader chrome trim and 22-inch wheels. Inside there’s a microsuede headliner and the front seats have a massaging function. A Bose premium audio system with 12 speakers is also there and to make driving on the highway a breeze, the Denali Ultimate comes standard with the Super Cruise hands-free driving tech. Super Cruise is optional on the standard Denali.

2022 GMC Sierra AT4X

For off-roading fans, there’s the new AT4X model, which is the most off-road capable version of the Sierra 1500. It gets Multimatic spool-valve dampers, underbody protection, electronic locking front and rear differentials and black 18-inch wheels that are wrapped in Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac Mud-Terrain tires. The Sierra 1500 AT4X also gets a new Terrain Mode that provides one-pedal driving at low speeds.

Under the hood there are several options, including the turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder, the 355 horsepower 5.3-liter V8 and the 420 hp 6.2-liter V8. A 3.0-liter inline-six Duramax diesel is available, while the previous 4.3-liter V6 is no longer available. GMC has updated the four-cylinder to give it more torque (420 pound-feet compared to 383). It’s eight speed automatic transmission has also been tweaked a bit.

The 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 will arrive in the first quarter of next year.
