It’s being reported that earlier this month General Motors filed a trademark application for the names Chevrolet Bolt and Bolt, which has led to speculation that the name could be used on a future electric vehicle.
It’s being reported that earlier this month General Motors filed a trademark application for the names Chevrolet Bolt and Bolt, which has led to speculation that the name could be used on a future electric vehicle.
Since the Bolt name is very close to the Chevy Volt name, there’s a possibility that the name could be used for a new electric vehicle.

GM has already confirmed that the next-generation 2016 Chevy Volt is going to debut in January at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show. GM even released a preview of the new Volt, picture here and it’s rumored that it will be lighter than the current model with a longer electric driving range.
