We’re still waiting for the Ford Ranger to arrive in the US, but a new report claims that Ford be considering an even smaller pickup for its lineup. A new report claims that Ford is looking at the possibility of introducing a new compact pickup that would slot in below the Ranger in its US lineup.

According to Automobile Magazine, sources have revealed that Ford is considering offering a small pickup that will be bigger than the Brazilian Courier and get this, it will be based on the Focus platform. A unibody small pickup could be an interesting addition to Ford’s lineup as it looks for ways to get ahead of General Motors in the US truck market.

If the report is true, the Focus-based pickup could arrive in the US by 2022.
