Ford hasn’t announced the updates to the 2022 Ford Explorer, but a new report claims that the high-performance Explorer will come with rear-wheel drive as standard.

Ford Explorer ST

Right now the Explorer ST comes standard with all-wheel drive, but sources recently told Ford Authority that the 2022 Explorer ST will have optional all-wheel drive. While the standard 2022 Explorer ST will send its power to the rear wheels, all-wheel drive will still be available as an option with the equipment groups: Enthusiast Package 400A, and High Package 401A.

The Explorer ST will still be powered by a 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 that generates 400 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque.

Ford has yet to confirm the report, but we should get the news about the 2022 Explorer soon.
