Ford has unveiled the 2022 Ford Expedition, which has received a nice facelift, more tech features and two new trim levels.

2022 Ford Expedition Stealth Edition Performance Package

The first new trim level is the Expedition Timberline, which is a more off-road ready version of the big SUV. It gets more rugged styling and more off-road capability. The second is the Stealth Performance Package, which adds blacked-out trim and other upgrades to give it a sportier look.

The Expedition Timberline gets a unique grille with orange accents, that’s similar to the Explorer Timberline. It rides on black 18-inch wheels and gets a wider track. It has 10.6-inches of ground clearance and better approach and departure angles. It also gets a two-speed transfer case, a front skid plate, limited-slip rear differential, unique springs and larger stabilizer bars. The Timberline model also gets Ford’s new Trail Turn Assist system, which can lock the inside rear wheel to decrease the turning circle.

The Stealth Performance Package is the opposite, since it’s designed more for the street, where most buyers will most likely keep their Expeditions. The package adds a sportier suspension in addition to its blacked-out grille, mirror caps, roof rails, running boards and trim. It also rides on unique 22-inch wheels and gets adaptive dampers. The Stealth Performance Package is only available on the Limited and Limited Max models.

No matter which version you choose, the Expedition is only available with one engine, a 3.5-liter EcoBoost twin-turbocharged V6 that’s mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. The standard version generates 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. If you want more power, the Timberline and Stealth Performance Package versions get a different version with 440 hp and 510 lb-ft.

The Expedition can tow up to 9,300 pounds with the towing package.

The Platinum model comes standard with the Blue Cruise hands-free tech. No matter which version you choose, the Expedition comes standard with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection. The 360-degree camera system is optional and Pro Trailer Backup Assist 2.0 will improve your towing experience.

The 2022 Ford Expedition will arrive in the first quarter of 2022.
