The 2020 Ford Explorer will be revealed at a special event at the Ford Field stadium in Detroit. It will then be showed off at the 2019 Detroit Auto Show shortly after.

It’s not known which versions of the 2020 Explorer we’ll see debut next month, since we do know that a sporty Explorer ST is in the works as well. Ford has released a few teasers of the 2020 Explorer, including showing off the new Police Interceptor Utility vehicle.

It’s being reported that the 2020 Explorer will switch to Ford’s rear-wheel drive CD6 platform with all-wheel drive being optional. The Explorer ST will also be powered by the same twin-turbocharged 3.0L V6 as the Lincoln Continental, which will give it around 400 horsepower. Sales of the 2020 Ford Explorer are expected to start in the first half of 2019.
