Ford F-150 fans that are eager to get their hands on the 2018 F-150 Power Stroke diesel may be in for a surprise. Last week Ford announced the MPG specs for the diesel-powered F-150, but it failed to release the pricing details, but luckily we now have them and it isn’t going to be cheap.

When the 2018 Ford F-150 Power Stroke Diesel goes on sale next month, it will cost thousands more than the 3.5L EcoBoost V6 and 5.0L V-8 engines. The Drive was recently able to get some of the pricing details from a Ford rep, who stated “On the F-150 King Ranch and Platinum, with the standard 5.0-liter V-8 engine, the walk to the 3.0-liter Power Stroke is $3,000, or $2,400 more than the 3.5-liter EcoBoost option.”

The Power Stroke turbodiesel engine will not be available on lower trim levels, so to get you’ll have to at least start with the Lariat trim level. “On the F-150 Lariat, with its standard 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine, the walk to the 3.0-liter Power Stroke is $4,000, or $2,400 more than the 3.5-liter EcoBoost.”
