Ford has yet to unveil the new Ranger Raptor in the US, but our friends in Europe just got a nice surprise, since the Ranger Raptor just debuted in Europe at the Gamescom trade fair. Ford has also announced that the Ford Ranger Raptor will go on sale in Europe by mid-2019 with a new diesel engine.
The European-spec Ford Ranger Raptor is powered by a turbocharged 2.0L diesel engine that generates 210 horsepower and 369 lb-ft. of torque. The EcoBlue diesel engine is also mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. To help it tackle anything you can throw at it, the Ranger Raptor features a Terrain Management System with six different driving modes: Normal, Sport, Grass/Gravel/Snow, Mud/Sand, Rock and Baja.
The Ranger Raptor also features a unique suspension with FOX shock absorbers with Position Sensitive Damping and it rides on all-terrain BF Goodrich 285/70 R17 tires that were developed specifically for it.
The reason that Ford decided to debut the Ranger Raptor at Gamescon is because Ford and Microsoft have also announced that the new Ranger Raptor will be featured in the new Forza Horizon 4 video racing game.
“Forget everything you think you know about pick-ups,” said Leo Roeks, Ford Performance Director, Europe. “Our new Ranger Raptor is a different breed – a thoroughbred desert racer and extreme lifestyle off-roader that can toil with the best of them in the harshest of working conditions.”
Ford has yet to make an announcement about the Ranger Raptor’s availability in the US, but a recent patent filing, might provide a clue.
