Two days ago Ford announced that it’s killing off most of its cars in North America. Ford confirmed that it would not be investing in any new versions of the Fusion, Taurus, Fiesta and Focus sedan for North America and now we know when the existing models will expire.
The news comes to us from Automotive News reporter Michael Martinez, who got an inside scoop, which was confirmed by Ford. The first model to disappear will be the current generation Focus, since production will end next month. The Ford Taurus will be produced until March 2019 and the Fiesta will keep rolling off the production line until May 2019. The Fusion will be the last of the discontinued cars, since it will be around for at least a few more years.
By mid-2019, Ford will start exporting the Focus Active crossover to North America, which will be only one of two cars left after the Fusion exits, since luckily the Mustang is not on the chopping block.
