Ford showed off the 2012 Ford Focus ST yesterday with its 247 horsepower turbocharged engine and now Ford has taken the wraps off the high-performance Fiesta ST concept in Frankfurt.

The Ford Fiesta ST concept is powered by a turbocharged 1.6L EcoBoost engine with around 175 horsepower. The four-cylinder is mated to a standard six-speed manual and propels the Fiesta ST from 0-62 mph in less than seven seconds.

The Fiesta ST concept also gets sportier styling that mirrors the styling of the Ford Fiesta WRC competition car. The front fascia features a large trapezoidal grille with a honeycomb mesh design that mimics the Focus ST and the rear gets a dramatic diffuser design that includes a twin exhaust. The Fiesta ST concept rides lower than the regular lower than the regular Fiesta and on 17-inch alloy wheels.

Ford claims that the Fiesta ST concept is a preview of the future direction of a high-performance Fiesta.

“With the Focus ST we promised to deliver uncompromised sports performance and styling to a truly global audience for the first time, without sacrificing Ford’s key values of Smart, Safe, Quality and Green. With the Fiesta ST Concept we are demonstrating that our Global Performance Plan has legs,” said Jost Capito, Ford’s director of Global Performance Vehicles.

“The Fiesta ST Concept shows in the most dramatic way possible that the qualities that define an ST are not limited to one model. The potential for delivering the ST experience to an even wider audience are laid bare by this striking new concept.”

The Fiesta ST concept looks pretty close to a production model, so lets hope that it does come to the U.S. alongside the Focus ST.
