Gas prices suck, so it’s no surprise that car and truck buyers are looking for more fuel efficient models. According to PickupTrucks.com, Ford is selling more V6 equipped F-150 trucks than F-150s with V8 engines.

Ford offers two V6 engines in its best-selling F-150, the base 3.7L V6 and the turbocharged 3.5L EcoBoost V6. Last month 41 percent of all F-150s driving off Ford lots were powered by the EcoBoost engine, and another 14 percent were equipped with the base V6. That means that V6 engines accounted for 55 percent of all F-150 sales last month.

The turbocharged 3.5L EcoBoost engine has already exceeded sales expectations, so it’s no surprise to see this model flying off dealer lots. The EcoBoost V6 puts out 365 horsepower and 420 lb-ft. of torque. It has more horsepower than the 5.0L V8, gets slightly better gas mileage and can tow more.
