In Europe Ford offers the Focus Active and EcoSport Active models, which are slightly more rugged versions of each model. It’s also working on a Fusion Active as well, but now it looks like a Ford Escape Active is also in the works and it’s probably coming to the US.

2022 Ford Escape

Ford Authority is reporting that Ford filed a trademark for the Escape Active name with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). We haven’t heard any reports about an Escape Active, but it could bridge the gap between the standard Escape and the more rugged Bronco Sport.

In Europe the Active name adds an inch of extra ride height and a slightly more rugged exterior. We can likely expect the announcement for the 2023 model year, since the Escape is expected to get a facelift.
