The EPA has officially given the Tesla Model S a fuel economy rating of 89 MPGe and a range of 265 miles for the top version of the Model S with a 85 kilowatt-hour battery.

Even though the EPA’s rating of 89 MPGe may be lower than other electric vehicles like the new Honda Fit EV and Nissan Leaf, the Model S has the longest driving range of any full electric vehicle on the market. The Model S also is larger than the Honda Fit and Nissan Leaf with seating for up to seven passengers.
The EPA has not announced the ratings for the lower Model S models with the 40 kWh and 60 kWh battery packs.
