The VW up! is supposed to be an affordable city car, but if you’re hoping the all-electric version will be just as affordable, think again. VW has announced that the VW e-up! will start at €26,900 in Germany, which is around $34,500 based on today’s conversion rates. Yeah not very cheap…
The VW e-up! is going to debut this fall at the Frankfurt Motor Show and is powered by an 80 horsepower electric motor. It can reach 0-62 mph in 12.4 seconds and has a driving range around 100 miles between charges. Thanks to the available DC fast-charging system, the 18.7 kWh lithium-ion battery can be charged up to 80 percent in 30 minutes.
VW has not announced any plans to bring the standard up! or the all-electric e-up! to the US.
