Production of the current generation Chevy Bolt is slated to end later this year and now GM has announced that it is working on a next-generation Bolt.
GM Chair and CEO Mary Barra announced during the company’s quarterly earnings conference call. “Our customers love today’s Bolt. It has been delivering record sales and some of the highest customer satisfaction and loyalty scores in the industry,” said Barra. “It’s also an important source of conquest sales for the company and for Chevrolet.”
The next-generation Chevy Bolt will be based on GM’s Ultium platform, like the Blazer EV, Equinox EV, and Silverado EV. GM has not announced when the next-generation Bolt will arrive, but it says that it is planning an “accelerated timeline” for its introduction.
