When Chevy took the wraps off the all-new 2019 Chevy Silverado a few months ago, it only stated which engines would power the new pickup, but now we have the official specs. The guys over at GM Authority have managed to dig through the order guides for the 2019 Silverado, which lists the horsepower and torque ratings for the V8 engines.

We still have to wait to get the specs for the 3.0L Duramax diesel engine, but at least we now know more about the V8 engines in the 2019 Chevy Silverado. To start the 5.3L V8 generates 355 horsepower at 5,600 RPM and 383 lb-ft. at 4,100 RPM, which is the exact same specs as the 2018 Silverado, but it is now mated to an 8-speed automatic instead of the old 6-speed.

The 6.2L V8 gets bigger changes, since it now generates 425 horsepower at 5,600 RPM, five more than before and 450 lb-ft. at 4,100 RPM, which is actually down 10 lb-ft. The 6.2L V8 is now mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission that replaces the old 8-speed.

Although the specs for both V8 engines are pretty identical to the outgoing Silverado, the 2019 Silverado should be a bit more fuel efficient thanks to fuel saving technology. The engines will feature auto/ start stop and the new Dynamic Fuel Management system that shuts down the cylinders on light loads. The technology has the ability to let the engine power the truck only using one cylinder.

We’re also still waiting to hear what other engine options will be available, since Chevy originally stated that the 2019 Silverado would be available with six engine/ transmission combinations. Besides the new 3.0L diesel, there’s also a chance that a smaller entry level engine will be added and maybe even an electrified powertrain.
