Cadillac is ready to release its semi autonomous Super Cruise system, which will be available on the 2018 Cadillac CT6 this fall. The Super Cruise system will be an option on the 2018 CT6 Premium Luxury trim for $5,000.

That means that the Cadillac Super Cruise system will be available on the 2018 CT6 starting at $71,290. It’s standard on the Platinum trim, which will start at $85,290. That price may seem like a lot, but it’s actually in line with the pricing for a base Tesla Model S with Autopilot.

Super Cruise is part of an mid-model year addition that Cadillac is calling “2018i.”

When its active, the Super Cruise system takes over the acceleration, steering and braking. Even when active, Cadillac’s system monitors the driver’s attention level with an infrared camera that monitors the driver’s face. If the driver appears to be sleeping or not paying attention for an extended amount of time, the system will automatically send alerts. If the driver still doesn’t wake up or start paying attention after the series of alerts, the vehicle will automatically come to a stop.
