Cadillac to launch a compact crossover in 2018

Cadillac has confirmed plans for a compact crossover that will be introduced by 2018.

2017 Cadillac XT5

Last week Cadillac unveiled the all-new XT5 crossover, which is the first of four crossovers that Cadillac is planning for its lineup. Unfortunately we will have to wait another two years to see the next one, which will be a compact crossover that will slot in below the midsize XT5.
Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen confirmed the new smaller crossover at the LA Auto Show that will rival models, like the BMW X3 and Lexus NX. The crossover’s name hasn’t been revealed, but it could be called the XT4.

At the other end of the spectrum, Cadillac will also likely introduce a larger crossover that will rival the Audi Q7 and Volvo XC90. “I think a very well-executed, three-row crossover could fit in quite nicely,” de Nysschen stated. “It’s an important segment with a lot of volume.” The larger crossover will likely not be introduced until around 2019. The last crossover is rumored to be an even smaller model that will compete with the Audi Q3 and BMW X1.
