Just over a week ago GM filed an application with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) to trademark the Buick Encore GX name, but what could it be? According to the application, the Encore GX name could be used for “Motor land vehicles, namely automobiles, sport utility vehicles, trucks and vans.”
Little is know about what the Buick Encore GX actually is. Buick does sell an Excelle GX in China, which is a wagon version of the Excelle, but obviously a wagon version of the Encore is not happening. While we don’t know what the Encore GX actually is, we may have to wait a bit to find out.
The current Buick Encore is expected to stick around until the 2020 model year, which means that an all-new Encore will arrive for the 2021 model year. The Encore GX could be part of the next-generation 2021 Encore lineup, but then again Buick may also be planning a special model to send off the current generation. Stay tuned.
