BMW has already declared 2018 as the year of the “8” with the debut of the 2019 BMW 8 Series Coupe and now it’s previewing the four-door Gran Coupe version with the debut of the M8 Gran Coupe concept. The concept not only previews the 8 Series Gran Coupe, but also gives a closer look at the styling that we can expect from the M8.

“The BMW 8 Series will take over as the new flagship model of the BMW line-up and, as such, combines unsurpassed sportiness and elegance,” says Adrian van Hooydonk, Senior Vice President BMW Group Design.

Just like the 8 Series concept, the M8 Gran Coupe concept previews BMW’s new design language, which is now more expressive. From the front the radiator grille kidneys broaden as they descend towards the road, to emphasize the car’s low center of gravity, while the gold-colored kidney surround adds an air of exclusivity to the front end. From the side, the M8 Gran Coupe looks long and sexy with its long wheelbase, long hood, flowing roofline and short tail. The rear of the concept hints at the performance potential of the four-door coupe with its wide track and flared wheel arches.

The 8 Series coupe is still supposed to arrive this year, but you’ll have to wait until 2019 to get the BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe and BMW M8 Gran Coupe models.
