BMW is about to light the EV segment on fire with a range of new electric vehicles, like the i4, iX3. We’re going to get a preview of the i4 next week with the debut of the i4 concept at the Geneva Motor Show and later this year the fully-electric iX3 will go on sale. BMW isn’t stopping there, since next year it will release its flagship electric SUV, called the iNext. BMW hasn’t unveiled the iNext yet, but it did give us a preview with a concept version that debuted in the fall of 2018.

Now BMW’s engineers are testing iNext prototypes in southern Africa, where they are putting the EV through the paces to make sure it can withstand the intense temperatures. The iNext’s all-wheel drive system is also being put to the test as the prototypes tackle various terrains, like sand dunes and gravel tracks.
