BMW has not only unveiled the updated 2019 BMW i8 Coupe today at the LA Auto Show, but has also unveiled the new i8 Roadster.

Since its introduction in 2014, the i8 has been the world’s best selling hybrid sports car, but for the 2019 model year the i8 gets some nice performance upgrades and the addition of the roadster.

In terms of performance, the i8 now has a combined output of 369 horsepower, which is up 12 horsepower from before. Plus both the i8 coupe and roadster can travel up to 18 miles in EV mode. Reaching 60 mph in the coupe takes 4.2 seconds, while the roadster is slightly slower at 4.4 seconds, but both models have an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph. BMW expects both models to have a 70 MPGe rating.

The 2019 i8 Roadster doesn’t look that different from the coupe, other than the different top and the fact that the two rear seats have been removed. The i8 roadster features a fabric soft top that can open or close in less than 16 seconds, at speeds up to 31 mph.

There are two new colors for the 2019 i8: E-Copper and Donington Grey. Inside there’s also a Tera World Copper with E-Copper trim. Both the 2019 BMW i8 Roadster and Coupe will be go on sale in the spring.
