BMW is scheduled to unveil the all-new 2018 BMW X3 on Monday, but the automaker’s local Hong Kong website has posted all the photos and some of the information early. Plus BMW Blog also got its hands on some of the early hi-res pictures of the new X3.
The leaked photos confirm the 2018 BMW X3 M40i
The third-generation 2018 BMW X3 borrows styling cues from the X1 and X5 models, but retains the same basic shape as the two previous models. Its overall look, is a bit softer and a bit more modern looking with its new headlights and larger double kidney grille. We’ll find out on Monday, but the 2018 X3 is expected to be a bit longer than the current model to give it more interior room.
It was rumored that we’d get a new M40i version of the X3 and the website confirms it. The BMW X3 M40i will be powered by a twin-turbocharged six-cylinder with 360 horsepower and 369 lb-ft. of torque. The six-cylinder is mated to an eight-speed automatic that sends the power to all four wheels. The X3 M40i will reach 0-62 mph in 4.8 seconds, but its top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph.
The website also reveals that there will be two diesel options: the X3 xDrive 20d and X3 XDrive30d. In the US, the turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder will also return as the X3 xDrive30i with 248 horsepower. Eventually a plug-in hybrid version will be added to the lineup as well as the first ever M X3, which will have over 400 horsepower.
