The new 2015 BMW M3 and M4 are going to arrive sometime next year, but new reports have surfaced that BMW is planning an even hotter, track-ready version of the M4 that will be released in 2016. Sources have hinted to Motoring that a two-seat version of the M4 with more power and a lot less weight is a possibility.
The 2015 M4 is going to debut in January at the Detroit Auto Show, but BMW’s engineers are currently working on a lighter version that will see the use of more carbon fiber and aluminum to significantly drop the coupe’s weight. The rear seats will also be removed and the front seats will be swapped out for lighter ones. The ultimate goal is to drop around 220 pounds from the M4’s weight. Under the hood we can expect a more powerful twin-turbocharged 3.0L engine.
