It’s only been a few months since BMW unveiled the 8 Series concept, but BMW is moving fast. BMW has now confirmed that the BMW 8 Series will enter production in 2018.
The 2019 BMW 8 Series will go head-to-head with the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe when it arrives. It’s also being reported that BMW is going to introduce convertible and Gran Coupe versions of the 8 Series, with the convertible expected to arrive in 2019.
BMW hasn’t released details about the production version, but the 8 Series is expected to be offered with the same engine lineup as the 7 Series sedan. This includes a turbocharged 3.0L six-cylinder and a 6.6L V12. The high-performance M8 will share the same 4.4L twin-turbocharged V8 as the new M5, but it’s rumored that it will get a nice horsepower bump over the M5.
