It’s already been reported that Bentley is hard at work on a new SUV for its lineup. Bentley CEO Wolfgang Dürheimer recently confirmed to Autocar that the SUV will be powered by a 12-cylinder engine.
“We will be first to use a 12-cylinder petrol engine in a luxury SUV. I like this idea; it makes clear whose car is the boss.”
The 12-cylinder engine will most likely be a revised version of the W12 engine that powers the Continental line (above). Although Dürheimer confirmed that the Bentley SUV will get a 12-cylinder gasoline engine, it’s possible that it will also get a 12-cylinder diesel engine as well.
The Bentley SUV is expected to launch in 2015.
