This marks the third year in a row that Honda has received an award from the North American jury of automotive journalists. The Civic took the honors in 2016 and last year the Honda Ridgeline was named Truck of the Year. Volvo also took home the award in 2016 for the XC90 SUV. This year is also the first time that Lincoln has ever received the award.

Honda took a clean-sheet approach to reinventing America’s most popular car, and we couldn’t be prouder to receive this honor for Accord as the North American Car of the Year,” said Henio Arcangeli, Jr., senior vice president of the Automobile Division and general manager of Honda Sales, American Honda Motor Co., Inc.

“Lincoln is honored to be named the best among such a strong field of competitors,” said Kumar Galhotra, president, The Lincoln Motor Company. “The entire Lincoln team is very proud of the work that was done to create a truly differentiated, luxury Lincoln experience in our all-new Navigator.”

“The US market is vital to our ongoing growth,” said Håkan Samuelsson, president and CEO of Volvo Cars. “We are proud to receive this prestigious award and we are committed to building on the success of our XC60 and XC90 in the US, as demonstrated by the billion-dollar investments in our new manufacturing plant in South Carolina.”
