Audi has confirmed that production of the Audi e-tron Sportback, its second fully electric model, will kick off in Brussels in 2019. The e-tron Sportback will follow the first EV, the e-tron electric SUV, which is going into production next year.
Both the e-tron Quattro and e-tron Sportback will be built in Brussels
“With the decision on the Audi e-tron Sportback, we are showing that Audi takes the issue of electric mobility seriously. A second battery-electric model will lead to optimal capacity utilization at our plant in Brussels,” stated Prof. Dr. Hubert Waltl, Member of the Board of Management for Production and Logistics at AUDI AG.
Audi unveiled the e-tron Sportback concept in April at the Shanghai Moto Show. The e-tron Sportback is a coupe-like SUV, similar in concept to the BMW X6. The concept is based on the same C-BEV electric car platform as the regular e-tron SUV. With two electric motors, one on each axle, the e-tron Sportback concept has 430 horsepower, which can be temporarily boosted to 496 horsepower, giving the SUV a 0-62 mph time of 4.5 seconds.
Thanks to its 95 kWh battery, the e-tron Sportback concept has a driving range of 310 miles on the EU cycle.
