Audi is planning on releasing a hybrid of version of its large Q7 SUV sometime next year, but the automaker has yet to release any plans for a smaller Q5 hybrid.

Frank Hermann, head of product marketing for the Q5 and Q7 recently unveiled that Audi is going to release a gasoline-electric hybrid version of its Q7 in the US next year. A Q5 hybrid is not in the works yet as the automaker plans on releasing diesel powered versions of the Q5 first.

“We think our clean diesel engines are the most suitable solution for cutting CO2 emissions on the Q5,” Herman said.

The first Q5 that the US will receive next year is powered by a 3.2L V6 with 265 horsepower and 243 lb-ft of torque.
