Three decades after the original Quattro debuted, Audi is reportedly set to bring it back according to sources that spoke with Autoweek. It’s being reported that the limited-production Quattro will aim to revive the spirit of the 1984 original and could debut this fall at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
The Quattro is expected to go on sale in 2014 and will be priced higher than any other existing Audi model. It will also be built on a modified A5 platform, although it will be about 8 inches shorter than the A5. What will power the new Quattro? It’s expected to get a version of AUdi’s 4.0L V8 with more than 600 horsepower. That’s enough for a 0-62 mph time under four seconds and a top speed around 186 mph.
