Aston Martin has announced that it has begun testing its first SUV, the DBX, in Wales. In addition to announcing that its first ever SUV has begun its round of real world tests, Aston Martin has also confirmed that the production version will keep the DBX name.

Although Aston Martin has begun testing the DBX SUV, we won’t get to see the production version of its new SUV until the end of 2019. Aston Martin also recently announced that the DBX will be built at its new plant in St. Athan, Wales. The plant is also tasked with producing a range of new Lagonda vehicles.

“Seeing a DBX development prototype in action is a momentous chapter in the story of our first SUV, for it is the moment it really comes alive,” stated Aston Martin Lagonda President and Group Chief Executive Officer, Andy Palmer. “DBX is so much more than ‘just’ an SUV; it will be the first model built at our brand-new facility in St Athan. As such, it is very much the start of a bold new era in the company’s long history.”
