The 2022 Acura NSX Type S debuted last month with a fresh face, more power and several other enhancements for the supercar’s final year of production. Since it hasn’t arrived yet, Acura has released a video that walks us through the brand’s goals for the 2022 NSX Type S and some of the changes.

According to Acura, the team strived for a “super NSX that would stand out.” The end result is a new more angular face with larger air intakes, updated headlights and a new carbon fiber front spoiler that minimizes front aerodynamic lift. The rear also gets a larger diffuser.

To make it even more fun to drive, the NSX Type S gets more power. It is powered by the same 3.5-liter V6 hybrid system, but it now generates 600 horsepower and 492 pound-feet of torque, an increase of 27 hp and 16 lb-ft. The extra boost comes from new fuel injectors, intercoolers and turbochargers that are shared with the NSX GT3 Evo. The nine-speed dual-clutch transmission has been retuned to provide a 50 percent faster upshift response and a new Rapid Downshift Mode. Lastly the NSX Type S also gets a retuned the Sport Hybrid SH-AWD system.

A new Lightweight Package adds carbon ceramic brakes, a carbon engine cover, and carbon interior trim that reduces the total curb weight by about 57.8 pounds.

The 2022 Acura NSX Type S starts at $169,500, while the NSX Type S with the Lightweight Package starts at $182,500. Only 350 units will be built and 300 of them will be available in the US.
