Acura has announced that the Integra Type S is going to Japan – a slightly neat turn of events for the company. It’s due to go on sale there in 2026, and when it does, it’ll be the first Acura vehicle formally sold in Japan. The news also coincides with Acura’s 40th anniversary.

2026 Acura Integra Type S

When the Integra Type S is available in Japan, it will be mostly the same as the one sold in the U.S. It’s even going to be offered with left-hand drive. It has a turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine making 320 bhp. Power goes only to the front wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox, which has auto rev-matching. A limited-slip differential helps get the power down better.

The chassis also has a few performance changes like a dual-axis front suspension, a damper system, Brembo front brakes, and 19-inch wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires.

Inside, the Integra Type S comes standard with heated sports seats, a 10.2-inch digital dashboard and a head-up display, and a 16-speaker ELS Studio 3D top-class sound system.

Sending the Integra Type S to Japan is more of a statement than anything. Acura was born as a luxury brand for America, but this shows how Honda’s American factories have become a key part of its worldwide performance range.

And for fans in Japan, it means they’ll soon be able to buy one of Acura’s most fun performance cars.
