For 2027, Toyota is putting an adventurous spin on its biggest Highlander. The new 2027 Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid Woodland Edition is the latest to join the stable, and with all-terrain tires, extra ground clearance and a host of other features, it is meant for those who want their three-row family SUV to be a bit more capable.

In the manner of other Woodland models from Toyota, the Grand Highlander doesn’t pretend to be a hardcore off-roader. The thinking is to put in place some practical upgrades for a weekend away or a trip down a dirt road, without giving up the efficiency and room that are the Grand Highlander’s selling points.

You will find the most notable differences under the vehicle.

The Woodland Edition rides on 18-inch matte-black alloy wheels with all-terrain rubber, and between the taller springs and the new tires, ground clearance is up by 0.5 inch over the rest of the Grand Highlander line. Standard all-wheel drive is part of the package, as are LED fog lights, mud guards and a tow hitch.

Visually, the Grand Highlander Woodland Edition stands out with its black badging, roof rails and mirror caps, a black shark-fin antenna and dark accent trim around the windows and headlights and chunkier tires.

Inside the second row is home to a removable console bearing the Woodland name that also functions as a cooler for as many as six 12-ounce cans. It also gets a heated steering wheel, all-weather floor mats and a 120-volt/1,500-watt power outlet in the second row.

Behind the third row there is improved lighting and a Woodland cargo tray with pop-up dividers to stop smaller things from sliding about.

Toyota is keeping matters simple on the powertrain front. There are no special engine tweaks for the Woodland; it comes standard with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder hybrid powertrain making 245 horsepower and standard all-wheel drive.
